Arundhati Roy - Democracy and Kashmir

by Admin 27. October 2010 05:06

Arundhati Roy certainly got a taste of writing, I liked the “God Of Small Things” infact that book pulled me to learn more on state of the small things.

But alas, it was before the Fame. Post Brooker Arundhati is activist who likes make headlines on NGO money and support Congress from behind,  unfortunately she cant take criticism, like a child who can make mockery but cant take critisicm.

Like Arundhati, almost every famed intellectual (spineless brains) will push for independant Kashmir. but they always missed the rule for speaking in “worlds only ideal democracy”, if you want to shout, be prepared to absorb the echo!  Not all people like to speak in microphone in debates, sometimes people take streets for debat! Ironically the same way Kashmiri youth is practising their past time right now.

I never liked the idea of practicing self ideals on mass, M K Gandhi did this , almost every Indian would agree that situation would have been different if Nehru would have gave way to make Sarda (or anyone else) to be first PM. By not taking sides of any political party, I can say we in India ran out of options of leaders. Few like Nitish , Modi etc knows the hard truth that its not possible to rule the country alone, and hence don’t do much to reach Delhi, even if they dream to be there.

For Roy and Co , desparation is the driver specially after the Narmada Dam issue and subsequent slap from Supreme Court, there as well backed by a political party. While in Kashmir – we may heard a news like : van carrying cash from a national political party for these rebal youth got looted somewhere in between while distribution.

Certainly Arundhati Roy is a good author and may be a good human being who likes to care for people, but so do millions of people who cant see Crown (Kashmir) cut off from their head (Map of India), I too believe that the crown needs cleaning and repair, one must give attention to the state. not chopping it of from the head.

Kashmir is integral part of India  – 5000 Years of Indian History is written with it.

NDM-1 : Could save NHS from bankruptcy

by Admin 13. August 2010 05:25

So called potentially deadly NDM-1 (acronym for New Delhi metallo lactamase – 1) have managed to bring back patients in NHS.

This new superbug is immune to Antibiotics. What is more worring that NHS UK is riding high on this to retain closing business, most of the UK patients choose India/Pakistan/Bangladesh for their medical treatment and medical tourism purpose, NHS wants to retain this patients and hence riding on this superbug saga.

So far two types of bacteria have been host to NDM-1 -  the gut bug E.coli and another that can invade the lungs called Klebsiella pneumonia. Both can lead to urinary tract infections and blood poisoning. E.coli is among a group of ‘gram-negative’ bugs, and the proportion of antibiotic-resistant cases of E.coli infection has trebled since the turn of the century. There are about 20,000 E.coli bloodstream infections each year in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, of which more than one in ten is resistant to antibiotics. There are just two antibiotics in the pipeline against this group of infections.
This compares with several new medications for gram-positive infections like MRSA.

Yahoo - Google Japan deal - MS red faced

by Admin 2. August 2010 10:07

Microsoft seems to loose battle with Google , in Japan atleast.

Yahoo! has incked a recent deal with Google Japan to provide search results, this leaves Microsoft red-faced. Microsoft also threatened to lead this to Japan fair trade commission.

Last week, Yahoo! Japan declared that it was switching to Google’s search engine from the one it had developed on its own.

Strange enough, Yahoo! Japan isn’t a fully owned extension of Yahoo! US. Softbank, a Japanese Phone and digital media company has around 40 per cent stake in the operation with Yahoo!

This battle is crucial for Microsoft in Japan as Yahoo! enjoys 50% search revenue in Japan.

Twitter Adopting Google Adsense Style Business Model

by Admin 1. March 2010 06:40

Twitter is the top social networking phenomenon today, And is now wondering what to do with this popularity, Twitter found it can learn from its preceddor in search popularity, Google and is thinking of getting advertising revenues, just like Google.

Twitter is a micro-blogging site, where a user can post message of at most 140 characters. Twitter is working on a ad model that will enable ad publishers to publish the ads through the Tweets.

Twitter is boasting of 50 million “tweets” a day, up from 5,000 in 2007.

General thoughts are that either Twitter will have a keyword specific ad built in API or it will provide ad in the twitter search results. Although twitter is not much happy on making money by ad revenue, so says twitter official blog.

Microsoft Velocity

by Admin 15. February 2010 05:23

Will be getting first hands on Microsoft Velocity,

As per the MS Velocity Help

“Microsoft project code named ”Velocity“ provides a highly scalable in-memory application cache for all kinds of data. By using cache, your application performance can improve significantly by avoiding unnecessary calls to the data source.

By using distributed cache, your application can scale to match an increasing demand with increasing throughput. ”Velocity“ distributed cache is provided in the form of a cache cluster, which simplifies your application code by managing the complexities of load balancing behind the scenes.

When you use ”Velocity,“ you can retrieve data by using keys or other identifiers, named ”tags.“ ”Velocity“ supports optimistic and pessimistic concurrency models, high availabilty, and a variety of cache configurations.

You can install a small self-contained environment on your development workstation or use SQL Server to manage a large multi-server cache cluster for your enterprise.

The topics listed in the following table describe the various aspects of using the product.”

I have used other products like Collexis and built small custom cache models for Web scrappers in past, so would be realy good to understand what velocity offers and how can it fight with Oracle Coherence

Microsoft Azure : Server & Cloud Division

by admin 12. December 2009 05:31
Microsoft is taking right steps in Azure development. With this move Microsoft has moved its Azure development to a new division under Server & Cloud Division (SCD). Business wise it makes great sense to use Cloud as a server entity and Microsoft is first one to understand this fact.  Microsoft Server & Cloud Division (SCD) will be a part of Server & Tools division.

In programming terms also this shift makes sense, Azure development (or any cloud app) will be basically an online version of Server Application clubbed with Microsoft SQL Server usage, .Net Services platform etc. With this Microsoft is aiming big on on-premises solutions, private clouds, and partner-hosted clouds.

Inside news also reveals that All of Microsoft’s online business will use Azure as the platform. Few of this business includes Windows Live Mail (Hotmail), SkyDrive, BPOS (Business Productivity Online Suite), and most noticeble one being Office Web Apps.

This kind of large usage of application justifies the recent purchase of data centers by the Software giant in San Fransisco.

Microsoft will not have to make development and maintenance more attractive for small and medium sized companies.

Azure Development was spearheaded by Ray Ozzie, Microsoft’s chief software architect.
